Hey there new friend!
My name is Carmella and I’m the writer, photographer, recipe developer, and overall BAMF behind My Coffee Has Butter, a food blog for people that want to be healthy but enjoy good food too.
For people that spend hours in the gym then want to go home and eat cake. For people that are low carb but still like Walnut Streusel Bread.
At My Coffee Has Butter, my concern is helping you live a healthy lifestyle that you can feel good about without also feeling deprived.
I’ve found that the main reason why many people fail when it comes to their diet goals is because they’re more focused on what they can’t have than what they can. You can eat all of the foods you know and love without sacrificing flavor or all of your favorite ingredients. Like bacon, butter, and lots and lots of cheese.
At my highest weight ever I was over 300 lbs, standing at about 5′ 7″. My whole life I had been larger so I didn’t really notice my weight or feel bothered by it for a really long time. Most of my family and friends were large so my size was never really brought up or frowned upon.
It wasn’t until I was hospitalized because of gall stones that I decided it was time to change my life for real.
There’s nothing like seeing those numbers on the scale to give you a huge taste of reality. It took me about two years to lose 100 lbs and change the way I looked at food. Over the course of 2 years I took in a ton of information on different cooking methods, ways to save money shopping for healthy foods all while developing a pretty impressive collection of recipes. I became passionate about sharing what I learned with others which led me to start this blog.
You will see all kinds of recipes here on My Coffee Has Butter. Gluten free, low carb, Vegan, and Vegetarian meals will most certainly be found here but you’ll also find bread and meat recipes.
I currently follow a cyclical Ketogenic diet which means about 95% of the time I stay under 20g net carbs per day but some days I do a carb up or refeed. This way I get the life changing benefits of Keto while getting the benefits of carbohydrates when it comes to my training. I really believe that living your best life is all about balance and unless you’re a professional athlete, why not enjoy a cupcake or seven every now and then?
